Situation:
You would like to be able to check your FGCU Eagle Mail using a Mail User Agent such as Microsoft Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook.
Solution:
Using any POP3 compatible Mail User Agent, you can retreive your FGCU Eagle Mail by setting up a connection to the FGCU Eagle Mail server, and retreive your message within the mail client.
To Setup Outlook Express for POP3:
- Click "Tools"
- Click "Accounts"
- Click "Add"
- Click "Mail"
- Enter your full name
- Enter your Eagle E-Mail Address (For Example: jdoe@eagle.fgcu.edu)
- Select "My incoming mail server is - POP3"
- Enter "eagle.fgcu.edu" in the incoming and outgoing mail folder
- In the username field type in your eagle mail username (For Example: jdoe)
- Enter your Eagle Mail password in the password box and click "Remember password" if you would like Outlook to remember your password.
- Highlight the account you just created (It should be called: "eagle.fgcu.edu")
- Click "Properties"
- Click the "Servers" tab
- Under "Outgoing Mail Server" check the box that states: "My server requires authentication"
- * If you would like your mail to also appear in the webmail, please click on the "Advanced" tab. (Optional)
- * Under "Delivery" please check the "Leave a copy of the message on the server" (Optional)
- Click "Ok"
- Click "Close"
- Click "Send and Receive" and all your messages should appear on the screen
This should now allow you to be able to check your FGCU Eagle Mail using a client such as Outlook or Outlook Express. The same settings are valid for any other POP3 client, however, please make sure that you specify to use authentication for the outgoing mail server.
